I found this weeks class really cool, it had me thinking back to how I would feel If I walked into one of my elementary school classrooms at that age and my teacher started showing us educational videos starring them and purely created by them. It would not only be funny, but super engaging as the class would definitely stay really focused on the video for the sole reason of their teacher being in it. Videos are always special and will grab students attention due to their nature. Teaching with videos is no different than teaching with a regular lesson to the class, just in another medium. Because the lesson would be in video form, I would bet that the students would achieve more learning from the video than from regular in person lectures/lessons. The addition of sound affects, transitions, and visuals is what creates this appeal the students love. For these reasons, adding my own created videos to my teaching portfolio for my future students is definitely a tool I would like to explore. For example I could make a special video per week for a specific subject lesson, and this subject could change every week. This would certainly add some extra work but the students would really appreciate the effort, and could potentially connect them to you as the teacher more as well. So adding another layer of fun learning like video creation could go a long way. Using video technology can also allow the incorporation of music and art within them, therefore promoting the use of extended creativity. Thinking about all the endless ways you could create videos for the usage of lesson plans and classroom learning in general really asks the question of just how much video and online use will be needed for our future classrooms. So this has truly showed me the importance of mastering all these vital technological skills now.
